Karl Spain has been in stand-up comedy for over fifteen years. Last seen losing a few ounces on Celebrity Operation Transformation, Karl is probably best known in Ireland for his TV series Karl Spain Wants A Woman in which he not only got huge ratings but he also found himself a woman. As well as being a regular at Kilkenny Cat Laughs, Galway Comedy Festival, Vodafone Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Montreal Just for Laughs. Karl was a resident writer for Republic of Telly and still is for countless other comedians.

Karl Spain’s Open Top Bus Tour

YOU KNOW what it’s like. You are waiting for a hop-on hop-off city tour bus, then one comes along with Karl Spain cracking jokes on the mic. Do you get on? Will you learn anything about Galway?

The jesters behind the Vodafone Comedy Carnival have taken the original Galway City Sightseeing Tour and added a comedic twist to create Karl Spain’s Guide to the City of the Tribes. So this year during the festival, why not join the quick-witted Limerick native, and Operation Transformation star, as he gives his unique and often improvised take on what makes Galway and Galwegians tick, and hear his unique commentary on the culture and history of Eyre Square, The Claddagh, and the Salthill promenade. This year we’ve added a bigger bus to make Karl look smaller. We’ve also added a roof. This one hour tour of the city in association with Lally Tours is for tourists and Galwegians.

Late Night KARLnival

Karl Spain hosted one of the biggest hits of the festival over the last four years with Late Night Karlnival. This clunkily titled show is jammed every night as people come to see the very best comedians perform their very darkest material. This one always fills up quickly and is not for the faint-hearted. The lineups are on a need to know basis until fully confirmed but you will see some of the biggest names of the festival pop in to have the craic, get a bit rowdy and slag the hell out of each other.

‘Sometimes in live comedy, it’s the unexpected that can create the biggest laugh, and if you want to see top class international acts go off script a little, this is the show for you.’
